Young un's

I had lunch today with my cousin's daughter. My family has actually drifted apart quite a bit in the past couple of years since my Aunt and Uncle passed away and I'm trying to make more of an effort to spend time with the other family members left to me. Sarah is such a sweetie pie and I get to spend absolutely zero time with anyone under the age of 40, so talking with a college student is a bit of a treat. And the fact that she loves to cook is an extra bit of luck! Maybe that gene is in the family somewhere. I look forward to cooking with her soon, she's already made many things I would be reluctant to try on my own. She has many friends of mixed backgrounds (Greek, Indian) so her exposure to their foods probably comes along with that.
Forgive me Sarah if you read this, but I couldn't resist a bit of tripping down memory lane. I found this photo of Sarah from several years ago and it's always brought a smile to my face. We were at a family reunion and my Mother had brought these glasses with the feathers to play around with. Obviously she's grown since this photo - Sarah, not my Mother.

Meanwhile - Happy Birthday to Sarah - she turns 21 next week. I'm not sure I'd ever want to be that age again, especially in today's world, but she seems to have a solid take on life and a good head on her shoulders.
